The Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) Forage Program helps conservation-minded producers, with the cost of planting forages so that you can enhance your grazing options, improve your bottom line, and add to your land’s natural value. The program includes an extensive line-up of forage seed varieties.
Goal #2: Reduce the greenhouse gas footprint of Canadian beef per unit of product produced
Both indicators are promoted directly by program via acres planted to perennial forage (converted from annual cropping). The Nutrien (formerly CPS) relationship has now equated to approx. 100,000 acres of cropland conversion since 2010 and calculates to nearly $1 million in financial contributions in partnership with over 700 landowners.
DUC communications and marketing staff promote the program annually to producers and industry in the three Prairie provinces through a media release, earned media, print and radio advertising, postcard mail drops, social media, digital marketing, partner relations, tradeshow/event attendance and by using internal communications tools such as ducks.ca, a national magazine, e-newsletter distribution to members and volunteers, and annual reporting.
